Phew...I'm glad this game is getting near perfect scores like every other Mario game. Otherwise I just don't think I'd be able to enjoy it.

Played up to the part where you reactivate the Odyssey hat ship.

Graphics are great, I hope Xenoblade  2 looks this sharp. I'm not a fan of the camera though, it's the worst 3D mario camera since Mario 64 in its default position. Thankfully you can manipulate it to your liking, mostly but after Mario Galaxy and 3DWorld had basically perfect cameras it feels weird in a Mario game. The controls also feel a little off, but I think it's because of the camera. Controls aren't as tight or precise but again I think it's because of the camera.

Throwing the cap about is fun, if a bit gimmicky and the 2D parts are a bit gimmicky and throwaway too. Game looks and feels very premium though, sharp and detailed textures and the developers have obviously poured a lot of love into it. It does feel exciting having what is essentially a huge open-ish Mario world and I'll love to explore more tonight.

Got like 5 hours in. Insane variety in activities and really cool secrets to find. There are moons everywhere and they are more creative  than korok seeds. It is a joy to explore. That's said the normal missions have been pretty basic and everything is easy. As I said many times, I don't think this will top Galaxy.

You know what I don't like about it so far is that you possess so many different objects - they all control differently so you're flipping between so many sometimes clunky or weighty or light controls it destroys that feeling of super polished Mario games.

The internet ate my reply and I'm on my phone... For snappier controls, adjust the camera sensitivity in the options menu.

It’s all the little secrets and hidden areas that make this so great.  I went to fight a boss and got sidetracked four times before getting to him.

Why they set the camera speed to SLOW instead of NORMAL, I have no idea. If you have an option for normal, you'd think that would be the default setting.

Game is fantastic...not much of a surprise there.

I'm at new donk city, the last few worlds have been great, a sense of urgency and scripted events really helped. As fun as everything is it just feels like I am running around grabbing stuff, really simple stuff. It's like hundreds of little mindless quests everywhere, and while a good chunk of it has some really clever gameplay tied to it, a lot of it is just go there touch that.

Definetly not feeling it like Galaxy.

I played up untill the 3rd boss fight, and I'm not really feeling it. It's like they chucked out too much.  Yhe game doesn't look like a Mario game at all. Even the menu's don't look like mario menu's. There are so many moons that are easy to grab that they seem to be more like a commodity like coins then an actual reward. And what's up with the bosses? Raunchy Rabbids?
I do like how there are no levels. You just keep playing and exploring.  One thing mario didn't need however is a map and fast travel.

The capture mechanic also means that there are no enemies. Every enemy is an opportunity, but not a threat.

I don't know. I feel like I still need to accustom myself to this game... Good to hear thay later levels ate awesome though.

I set the camera speed of course. What I mean is the default camera angle which doesn't let you see what's ahead of you. I constantly have to use the camera stick like I'm playing Mario sunshine.

I’m certainly feeling this game.  The open world was a bit of an adjustment at first but I love it now.  Collecting moons felt off at first because there are so many.  It sort of lessens the value.  However, I do love how you can find them anywhere, encouraging exploration.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been sidetracked from the main mission because I’ve find another hidden area or secret or just out of reach area.

The bosses are fun, pure Mario gameplay and quite inventive at times.  They are simply a blast.  They only thing that seems to be lacking is the music.   It’s not quite as epic or catchy as the Galaxy title.

One interesting thing I’ve felt that the gameplay has been very reminiscent of the Banjo/Kazooie games with the transformations used as means of solving puzzles or just moving further.

New Donk City!  Boy, what a love letter to long time Nintendo fans! This world did not disappoint.  It’s pretty obvious Nintendo spent a good bit of time developing this world compared to some of the others.
